Dermatologist near me in Centreville, VA answers, “Can Botox cause nerve damage”

Dr. Neeraja Mattay at Dermatology Associates of Northern Virginia, Inc explain Can Botox cause nerve damage.

At Dermatology Associates of Northern Virginia, Inc., we encourage patients to consider the benefits of Botox injections. Patients looking for a professional “near me” in the Centreville, VA area can ask about this and other cosmetic options for the signs of aging.

Botox explained

Botox is formulated with botulinum toxin type A, and is cleared by the FDA for medical and cosmetic use. It is injected directly into muscles to reduce contractions. It can smooth the skin and reduce the depth and appearance of wrinkles and folds. It is best used on areas such as around the eyes, between the eyebrows, and on the forehead, where muscles can cause the development of wrinkles and folds. These are the areas where the FDA has approved use.

Why Botox?

Botox is a less invasive way of addressing fine lines, wrinkles, and folds on the upper third of the face, when compared to plastic surgery face lifts. Patients relax in the treatment chair while the dermatologist administers the injections. Patients will notice the results within a few days as the skin is smoothed by less muscle tension in the area.

Advantages of Botox

Botox injections have several advantages. Botox is:

  • Effective
  • Affordable
  • Long-lasting
  • Fast
  • Safe
  • Cleared by the FDA

Who is a candidate for Botox?

Dr. Neeraja Mattay at Dermatology Associates of Northern Virginia, Inc explains Why Botox should use. Most men and women who are unhappy with the appearance of their facial features are candidates. They are welcome to contact the team of professionals at Dermatology Associates of Northern Virginia, Inc. to discuss the advantages of using this treatment. Many patients will find that this and other cosmetic injectables, including dermal fillers and collagen stimulators, can greatly enhance one’s look where fine lines and wrinkles are a concern.

How does Botox work?

Botox is a neuromodulator. It works on the muscles not the skin. Patients who want to immediately fill wrinkles instead of reducing them through eliminating muscle contractions can consider the advantages of dermal fillers instead. In fact, patients can combine Botox injections and other cosmetic injectables to achieve the results they truly desire. The best way to determine if Botox is best for you is to schedule an evaluation with a team of dermatologists to discuss the pros and cons of each treatment available in the practice.

Patients may notice redness and itchiness around the injection. This is normal and is not a huge concern, as it typically subsides within a few days. Dr. Neeraja C. Mattay Reviewed by Andy. K.

I recently had an appointment at the Sterling office. Booking the appointment over the phone was easy and fast. Upon arrival, I found the front desk staff to be pleasant and efficient. My wait time was minimal in the waiting room and well as in the back room, which is always a nice thing with any doctor's office. When I did meet with the doctor, we discussed my issues and overall felt like all my questions and concerns were thoroughly answered before I left. No complaints, and will definitely be coming back if need be and recommending this practice to my family and friends.
