Great Falls area patients can use injectables to enhance their appearance
Injectables have been around for many years as a way for Great Falls area patients to achieve a more youthful appearance. It can correct areas where fine lines, wrinkles, and folds have developed and cause patients to look much older than they are. At this point, many patients consider plastic surgery, but when they discover the cost, risks, and scarring that can occur with this kind of a procedure, they are often turned off to the idea altogether. Thankfully, injectables have been developed for patients with mild to moderate fine lines and wrinkles who want a temporary way to correct these signs of aging and achieve a younger look.
Injectables are many different types of medications that can be administered to the facial area to reverse the signs of aging. The two types of injectables readily available at Dermatology Associates of Northern Virginia, Inc. include neuromodulators and hyaluronic acid dermal fillers.
Neuromodulators include popular brands such as Botox. Botox is known for reducing the contractions of specific muscles that can result in the development of wrinkles and folds. It is commonly used in specific areas of the face including the eyebrows, forehead, eyes, and lip lines. Dr. Neeraja Mattay, with offices in the Sterling and Centreville communities, finds that Botox is perfect in these locations for reducing the appearance of folds and wrinkles for approximately six to nine months. Patients will be able to see results over a few days and reinjection is necessary if patients decide they want to maintain their new look.
Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are another option. They can be used in conjunction with neuromodulators for optimum results. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the skin and can attract water to the area in which it is administered. This provides immediate reduction in the depth of fine lines and wrinkles and can enhance one’s appearance for many months. Popular brands of dermal fillers available at our practice include Juvéderm, Restylane, and Perlane.
Our team can work with patients during a consultation appointment to determine the best injectable for their specific desires and situation.
